For the past 40 years, information
about alcohol and other-drug dependency has been available
to a greater extent than information about problem or compulsive
gambling. While prevalence rates of excessive alcohol, nicotine
and recreational drug use are higher than that of problem
gambling, estimates show that 8 - 11 million Americans have
experienced at least one significant negative consequence
from gambling. Forman Consulting's mission is to raise awareness
about problem and compulsive gambling and to play an active
role in its prevention.
To that end, Forman Consulting has developed in-depth presentations
geared toward health professionals and clinicians, high
school and college administrators, employee assistance personnel,
and senior care workers. With regard to prevention of certain
behavioral addictions, these presentations are designed
to enhance the overall psychological well-being of individuals
in educational, corporate and health-care settings. Forman
Consulting has developed an on-line, self-help, problem
gambling quiz, which, in many cases, is a reliable
indicator of a gambling or compulsive gambling problem or
lack thereof.
What can Forman Consulting do for you? Forman Consulting
examines the underlying psychology of problem or compulsive
gambling, identifies vulnerable populations, develops prevention
strategies, and provides resources for those who may already
have a gambling problem or who have been affected by someone
else's gambling.
Based in New England, Forman Consulting provides presentations
and consultations to organizations, schools, and businesses
seeking to investigate strategies to manage potential or
existing problems stemming from gambling or other addictive
behaviors. Forman Consulting also offers orientation sessions
and provides resources for those who have experienced negative
repercussions from problem or compulsive gambling and/or
other addictive behavior.
