addictive behavior. In many cases, addictive behavior evolves
as a way to cope with some other significant problem. Those
who use gambling or other addictive behavior in this way
may benefit from individual or group psychotherapy, support
groups, or other self-help
initiatives.
The use of medication may be helpful in some cases, especially
when used in concert with the above-mentioned help. Although
there are no “magic bullets” that provide instant
cures for addictive behavior, certain pharmaceutical drugs
– prescribed under a doctor’s supervision –
have been reported to alleviate urges.
